can you part exchange a broken car?

just wondered! someone said i could part exchange a car which actually needs mending. is this right? or does the car need mending first?

We sold our car for £500 part- exchange, when it needed a new engine. They want your business even if the car (like ours) is scrapped.

This was the case for us when our car died on us on holiday May half term this year.

My Almeras gearbox went a couple of weeks back and the price I was quoted was 1.5 - 2 x what the car was worth.

This was at the dealers where I'd bought he car and had it serviced and MOT ( also got my previous car from dealers and had services etc done there)

The car was technically still running.

They offered me a part-ex and I bought a 1 year old car from used car.

Yes, but you probably be better off getting a discount on the car your buying
