£250 trust fund govt pay out

has anyone found a good company to invest the £250 trust fund starter that we get from the govt (if we apply) when the baby is born? i've seen various ads, but haven't a clue which to choose.

It's a minefield, there are so many to choose from. I went with the Abbey and just opened a savings type account.

we used Lloyds TSB cos thats where I have an account and I also work for them. P.S. the account is through Family Investments in conjunction with LTSB and is not held with LTSB itself.

I think you also need to remember there are different types of accounts.
We've decided to opt for a shares one that we choose ourselves. It with a broker who charge 12.50 per trade, so we are putting in some money each month and then when we've got a reasonable amount will invest it in some shares.
I like the idea of having some control over what it is invested in.

we're with natwest which has a numbr of different investment options once you increase your fund
we intend to save for dd so we'll use that as the basis.
watch out for charges

I opened an 'ordinary' savings account for ds. You can move it at a later date to a different account. I just wanted to invest it then have time to think! At least its gaining some interest then while you think where to put it.
