Help, dazed and confused. Which are the best ipod speakers?

DP has the Bose speaker and loves it - I read recently it's supposed to be the best on the market at the moment. We got his from John Lewis, here

we have these. They are great. Battery operated too if you want to take them out into the garden in the summer (they plug into the mains too). We got ours from John lewis and IIRC they were about £80

would recomend going to a store and actually listenign to them. We were deciding between the bose, or the altec lasing here .We listened to them both in an apple store, and asked for advice, and the altec is definatly better. It sounds better, and is £50 cheaper. The bose is more expensive jsut for the name.

I've got the jbl onstage which is the donut shaped one - it delivers great sound and excellent bass, but other people have had problems with them shorting out. I've been very happy although the power adapter is big and heavy so it's not great for travel. If I were looking for the best I'd go for the Bose sounddock - it sounds brilliant - I've not heard anything beat it, but it is £250. Mine is less than £100 now. If you go for a battery & mains one try to get one with a dock connection so you can charge the iPod when it's on the mains rather than always runnig down the battery.
