The first 5%

Do you think the kindle sample model will affect how writers write that first 5%? Will they put a cliffhanger at about 4.5%?

I don't think so. It's in the writers best interests to draw the reader in at the beginning of the book. If the first couple of chapters don't interest me, I've started to ditch the book - life is too short! I'm the same whether it's a book on Kindle or a paper/ hardback!
