"a pretend kitten in a pretend basket"

rockinrobinkie · 13/12/2005 15:51

This is what dd wrote in her letter to Father Christmas, after she'd said she wanted to ask for a kitten and I said, well we live in a flat, it might be difficult for Father Christmas to manage that; and she thought and said, well, I'll say a pretend kitten then, he could manage that, couldn't he?

So I want to get her the loveliest one possible. Preferably a marmalade one.

Anyone seen any?

you can get the little ones in argos that purr etc

followthestarlover · 13/12/2005 15:52

how about one of these?

motherinfurrierfestivehat · 13/12/2005 15:53

I knew, I absolutely KNEW, this was going to be your DD. Will rack brains. And bring her round to meet our cats, with whom you get a lot of furriness for your money.

almostachristmasangel · 13/12/2005 15:53

thats the one ive seen them in a toy shop they ae quite cute

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 13/12/2005 15:55

Hamleys have some realistic looking bits of fluff (no baskets though).

littlemissbossy · 13/12/2005 15:57

not exactly in a basket, but still cute

littlemissbossy · 13/12/2005 15:58

you could always buy a basket separately if you found a cat you liked

littlemissbossy · 13/12/2005 16:00

cat with her kittens from ToysRus

motherinfurrierfestivehat · 13/12/2005 16:02

I reckon go for a Hamleys one (sadly I can't find online the absolutely lovely little leopardy ones someone gave the Inferiorettes) and then separate fetching small basket.

tamum · 13/12/2005 16:05

Hamleys have some cats in baskets that are asleep and breathe realistically. Give me the creeps a bit but dd was very taken with them!

rockinrobinkie · 13/12/2005 16:15

Thank you everyone!

One of the Hamleys ones, MI, looks strangely like your giant cat ...

I had no idea sort of animatronic kittens existed. Tamum - I agree, it is a bit spooky. That being the case I might go for the Argos newborn one as it doesn't appear to do too much (as is authentic).

But it's out of stock - so now I must enter the scary world of text messaging that alerts you to Argos stock levels.

Dd has one of the FurReal kittens (you can also get cats too I think which are bigger) and it's really nice Trouble is, now she's angling for a real one.

colditz · 13/12/2005 16:19

kittens
It is quiet frightening the amount of sex sites that pop up when you google "realistic kitten toys"!

mazzystar · 14/12/2005 19:54

did you find one...

jsut seen this when buying a dolly for my boy

We3kingsofOrinocoare · 14/12/2005 21:27

Tescos have a cat in a basket, with a ribbon around it's neck for about eight quid. My dd1 had one for her birthday a week ago and loooovvees it!!

rockinrobinkie · 15/12/2005 09:52

mazzystar, that is lovely ...

I am dimly starting to realise that the FurReal newborn kittens are the Pegasus Styling Head of toy cats - ie sold out everywhere & on ebay for mark-ups.

rockinrobinkie · 29/12/2005 11:05

Just an update: no FurReal Newborns anywhere - so dd got this kitten (which is very sweet and has pale blue eyes which you can't see in the picture) in a catering shop nylon raffia bread basket. It appears to be just what she had dreamt of.

Hurrah!

Earlybird · 29/12/2005 11:44

Glad you were able to find the purrrrfect thing for her!

BTW - Sylvanian family choice was the right one for dd, though the lure/charm of houseguests has so far prevented her from playing with them for any length of time. Sure that will change though, once things calm down and get back to normal 'round here. Thanks for advice.

rockinrobinkie · 29/12/2005 12:17

(And something I had not guessed about Sylv is that getting-on-for-7 ds rather likes it too ... was found on the stairs reading the catalogue and saying "Mummy, come here - I've found something rather sweet [it was the boy & girl polar bear] - but you know I really only like looking at them, don't you")

On the topic of appealing cats, our other huge hit of Christmas has been Gobbolino the Witch's Cat.
