So what constitutes a bottle of "good" wine?

MascaraOHara · 13/12/2005 12:25

"gave the teacher a selection of Jo Malone products. "

WTF?!?!?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2005 12:27

DS2s will get a mini notebook, bookmark/clip thing & thorntons chocolates and I don't care if they like it.

Still can't work out why the class reps aren't organising a collection so the teacher/assistants get a decent gift!

Oh, whoops, I just put some random (nice) chocolates and smelly candles in my Ocado order for the teachers. That's ok isn't it?

I don't really drink, so I feel uncomfortable buying booze for others - I don't know what to buy, and worry they (like me) don't drink. Pretty unlikely in this country, though.

TheFish · 13/12/2005 12:29

i wouldnt regard that as areaon not to buy booze though.

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:30

Yeah, I know. And like us, they can just regift. We're forever regifting booze. I think we have cases of wine sitting about, particularly as DH gets gifts of booze from suppliers/colleagues/whatever.

The sad thing is, between us, we can get through about 1/3 of a bottle of wine, happily, of an evening. So what will we do with a full bottle? Gah.

Mercy · 13/12/2005 12:30

Love the term 're-gifting' !

TheFish · 13/12/2005 12:30

how old is your baby?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:31

Can I gather up details of all the wine we've got and get people to tell me what's rubbish? As I seriously don't know.

TheFish · 13/12/2005 12:31

nqc

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:31

My baby? 14 months. Not so much of a baby any more.

(We didn't really drink before we had kids.)

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:32

Sometimes, we share one of those tiddly bottles of Stella. You know those tiny ones? That's enough booze.

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:32

(And before anyone starts thinking we're teeny tiny people with our teeny tiny bottle of stella, we're not. We're so not.)

TheFish · 13/12/2005 12:33

I@ve got a mental image of a family of Borrower sized people...

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:34

Hmm, but we didn't really drink pre-kids. I mean, maybe two pints each of an evening? Max.

I'd rather not drink large amounts, bad family history.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2005 12:34

"telling htem I drank nothing" !! Clearly you hadn't discovered Waitrose cheese and wine parties then!!

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:35

(what is the 'f' in imfe for? I can't think of anything polite to put in there ...)

TheFish · 13/12/2005 12:35

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:36

Oh, my first induction was hilarious, as I (stupidly) honestly answered the "have you ever taken any recreational drugs". Never mind that I hadn't taken anything for years, and had never been addicted.

The mw couldn't spell some of the drugs. And then I had to be sure to keep my folder away from my in-laws, as they were the types to read it.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2005 12:36

in my fishy opinion?

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:37

Fishy! That sounds good.

(I was getting 'feeble' or 'f*cking', neither of which sounded right.)

TheFish · 13/12/2005 12:37

yep

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 12:37

So could I get MN people to tell me what all the wine is? Or is there any easy way to find out?
