White Company

Also lovely internet company called Pride&Joy who does proper old fashioned knitted stuff.

misdee · 12/12/2005 22:27

no. but i wish my nan could still knit, she used to knit all the new baby blankets, but after i had dd1 she had to stop as her hands stiffened up too much.

jinglinggoblin · 12/12/2005 22:30

mine all have very simple crocheted blankets made by my mum. crochet is pretty easy to do, you could do one yourself to make it extra special or ask around parents / in laws. ds2 is 5 1/2 and still has to have his 'night night' if he is poorly

Mum2OneAndBump · 12/12/2005 22:30

Thanks i will look at those 2 places moondogs

Misdee i know what you mean i love the hand knitted blankets just the sort of thing i wanted, i have been searching and searching i do not want the normal "shop" blanket i want the old fashioned hand knitted.

OH i am useless with my hands i only have 5 weeks now i am sure it would take me 5 weeks to learn

I do not really have anyone that could make me one otherwise i would ask, think i have left it a tad late what with christmas and everything.

have you tried the local sheltered scheme xmas fayres? usually some of the ladies make blankets etc.

Mum2OneAndBump · 12/12/2005 22:39

No i haven't misdee but i will, when i had ds i went to a little shop called pixies & i found the most gorgeous white tassled blanket, i thought i still had it but can not find it thats why i have been looking for the past week.

i could ask mags the warden to see if there is anything left from the xmas fayre here the other week.

jinglinggoblin · 12/12/2005 22:43

ebay have quite a lot of hand made blankets, if they dont have what you want you can post a 'want it now add'. better still, post under arts and crafts and get one made specially by an mnetter

hub2dee · 12/12/2005 22:48

Expensive and possibly impractical, but they look gorgeous, LOL.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/12/2005 22:52

merino can be machine washable, although it's maybe less durable than synthetic, dunno.

FrostyTheRickman · 12/12/2005 23:05

God, I've got loads of knitted blankets you can have. My aunty is an expert knitter and I've got them all stashed upstairs.

Mum2OneAndBump · 12/12/2005 23:06

Sorry just side tracked then

Hub - Thanks but not reallyt looking to pay that much but they look gorgeous.

FrostyTheRickman · 12/12/2005 23:08

Most of them are white, may have one with tassells. I will dig them out tomorrow and let you know. How big did you want them? I've got a photo of my ds wrapped up in one that I can show you.

Mum2OneAndBump · 12/12/2005 23:11

Oh that would be great i will pay you for it if you find one. Not that big i just want it to wrap baby in when she is born & to bring her home in etc, i don't think my baby will be that big, well i hope but probably 7-8lb, just want it to be thick & warm & to be able to wrap baby in.

Oops, I think it should be .co.uk Sorry!!

MistletAero · 12/12/2005 23:27

OMG - I have one of these - it was mine! I was christened in it. It is just as you described! I was just recently wondering what I should do with it, but it has such sentimental value that I'm not sure I could part with it. It's a thick white crocheted one with tassles. It's definitely old fashioned and really lovely despite it's years!.........just sitting in the airing cupboard............will have a think.....Harman might well have what you need.....(hi Harman)

MistletAero · 12/12/2005 23:28

oops - Rickman.....
