Want to send BIL and SIL some nice foodie treats and maybe a good bottle of port for Xmas. Have left it a bit late I suspect, but does anyone know a good online supplier of posh nice stuff in good packaging?

Thanks!

What kind of stuff?

Harvey nichols do nice sets and I think they deliver.

Or how about cheese? There are a couple of cheesy places that deliver?

Fortnums do hampers and deliver,as do Harrods.

swedishmum · 11/12/2005 23:09

carluccio's?

thecattleareALOHing · 11/12/2005 23:10

Will try fortnums - are they online? I will google and find out. Ditto Carluccios. Cannot face actual shops with ds and dd in tow.

Like that site Enid! Very useful.

Everyone, would you personally like it if someone send you a Harrods box containing a bottle of champagne and a bottle of Dow's port? Would you think that was a nice present?
I feel sure they have enough 'things'. BIL and SIL are in their early fifties and have grown up kids, like golf, holidays, entertaining and live oop North.

Yes as long as it was very nice champagne - nothing cheapy in a harrods box please ;)

merrySOAPBOXingday · 11/12/2005 23:29

I've got my eye on the Fortnum's champagne and chocolate box

Champagne and port from Harrods would be a perfect gift in my opinion!

thecattleareALOHing · 11/12/2005 23:30

The chocolate stuff looks beautiful! But not sure that they are chocaholics.

Enideepmidwinter · 11/12/2005 23:31

no chocs probably better for best mate

champagne and port very nice or maybe one bottle of fantastic red wine

thecattleareALOHing · 11/12/2005 23:32

this is the Harrods thing, or would Fortnums champagne and chocolates be better?

OP posts:
Enideepmidwinter · 11/12/2005 23:33

well I would prefer Fortnums but am die hard foodie snob

tbh I am sure they will be chuffed with it

thecattleareALOHing · 11/12/2005 23:35

I'm also a bit sniffy about Horrids - esp with the ghastly Mr Fayed at the helm, but the stuff looks OK and the packaging is quite nice, I think. And it's not obscenely priced.

go for it

Harrods does have a certain role to play at Christmas

if they live up north they'll think its fab

JOKE btw

merrySOAPBOXingday · 11/12/2005 23:36

I think that looks a lovely gift Aloha! I'd happily quaff them both over hte festive season thinking kindly thoughts about the person who sent them

merrySOAPBOXingday · 11/12/2005 23:37

And I do really agree with the idea of consumable gifts - there comes a point where there really is nothing left to buy otherwise!
