Moses basket - do I need a new mattress?

DS is now 2 and have stored his moses basket in the loft. Bought a new moses basket mattress today (£25) for the baby due in Feb and just wanted to check that I defo need it! Was suprised that it cost £25, think I only paid £40 for the whole moses basket first time around!

I didn't use a moses basket but my sister and SIL both used the same one and din't change the mattress. As far as I know 3 babies have slept in it with no new mattress

My DS had a lovely moses basket and never slept in it for more than 4 hour, return and buy a facial,

do you still have receipt? i have just used dd1's for dd2. it was brand new for dd1 so it's not ancient or anything (4 years). just gave cover a good wash. £25 sounds steep!

Used it for about 6 weeks but found it very useful. Would have used it for longer but couldn't squash him in it any longer!

I don't think you need another mattress when it is for siblings?

We are using the same one for the next one, dd did'nt use it for long.

So the general consensus is the existing one will be fine even though it's been in the loft? Good news for our bank balance!
