christmas parcel for Uncle Jack

I'd like to send my uncle something via the internet. (Christmas cake or similar, gift wrapped) Waitrose didn't actually have anything I think he would have liked, Tesco's don't seem to do gift delivery. Any other ideas? Antone used a company that specialises in doing this? am a bit reluctant to pick one at random off teh internet

Thorntons?

GeorginaA · 11/12/2005 20:00

Amazon is the old standby, but best to choose something that's fairly mainstream and likely to be in stock (showing 24hr dispatch).

Hotel Chocolat do this and put in a card with a personalised message on.

did Amazon last year - very difficult to choose for. Thorntons and Hotel Chocolat both look lovely but he's a dour Yorkshireman much more likely to appreciate a good fruit cake or a parcel of posh tea and jam than chocolate.

erm ... john lewis?

You're a tough customer, aren't you

GeorginaA · 11/12/2005 20:33

Haven't used them but: Hampers Express ?

Harrods?

GeorginaA · 11/12/2005 20:34

What's your budget? John Lewis do a nice Duchy Originals Christmas Hamper here

GeorginaA · 11/12/2005 20:35

Their hampers under £41 look quite impressive actually.

hativity · 11/12/2005 20:45

Thanks Georgina. I tried Harrods but abandoned it as you didn';t seem to be able to send a message. I've actually found jsut what I wanted - from Betty's. Not sure if you've heard of Betty's but it's a legendary tea shop in Yorkshire - they deliver a lovely fuit cake for £20 odd, which is just right.
