'Reconditioned' Kindles??

Some people on here have said something about reconditioned Kindles, and I think they bought them off Amazon. I've tried searching for them on the Amazon website, but can't seem to find any. Am I missing something? (I already have one, I'm looking for a friend of mine). There seem to be a lot on ebay, but they're not actually much cheaper than the full price ones on Amazon!

Any help gratefully received!!

If you look at the page for the normal Kindle at full price, it shows "used and new" and if you click on those links, at the moment there's an £111 one for £80 and a £152 one for £116. I don't know what they are on ebay but I would go through Amazon for their refurbished ones rather than risk anything like that on ebay, too many tricksters and scammers.

Thanks elkiedee, I did tell her that I wouldn't buy one off ebay. I'll pass on the info!!

Just got one of the 79.99 kindles for DH as he was nicking mine. It isn't arecon at all, it's brand new in the standard sealed packaging with all the guides/protective sheets and even the full plug charger and cable combo.

Only sad I didn't get a 3g and give him mine LOL!

Mine was £65 from amazon warehouse but only got USB cables no plug or guides.

With the early ones there were some problems with the latters coming off the buttons. People got replacements. I should imagne Amazon were able to replace or sort out the lettering on the returned ones and then repackage them up again good as new. Sounds a good deal.

mspotatochip · 27/09/2011 17:37

Its arrived, i'm playing with it, looks just like new, can't tell whats "reconditioned" about it

ScaryFairy28 · 27/09/2011 21:44

Mine was perfect apart from some stuff in the box missing. Apparently if there returned there sold as reconditioned as they've been used.

pinkhebe · 29/09/2011 20:18

I think that they are seconds ie have a mark on them or something (from what I read on the amazon forums) But mine arrived today and is in perfect condition, and still has a 12 month warrenty (I think)

would we have bought the new 89.99 kindle though? trying to send whether to send this one back and get it???

pinkhebe · 30/09/2011 14:29

no, it defeats the object of it being 'cheap'. The new kindle is not as high a spec as the original.

It's for my son's christmas present so it will be fine Grin
