Back in November I bought a PSP from a "secure" website and the heard nothing.

On Monday - ( after a few unanswered emails ) I threatened action and the next day was told that it was being shipped ... FROM THE STATES ... FFS ?

It arrived today and it is the Japanese version ... there was no mention of this on the website ... what do I do ??

I am not sure I want to send it back as I will be you of pocket .... BUT can DS even use this ??

please help me as I am panicking

Thanks

I don't see how it would make any difference.

Aren't Sony a Japenese company?

CrystalmasJingleTips · 08/12/2005 11:10

The charger is for international plugs ( not the end of the world )

But will they be able to use the UK games ... ?

might be a silly question - but DVDs come in Regions 1/2/3 IYKWIM

Do you know anyone who has one, you could borrow a game to see if it loads properly.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 08/12/2005 11:20

You could call a Sony shop and ask them. Do you have one near you?

I'm 99% sure you can use british games.

CrystalmasJingleTips · 08/12/2005 11:45

Bloke at our SOny shop is clueless ... "we dont stock them - so I don't know"

A lot of the ones on E-bay are the Japanese version. Could you try emailing one of the big sellers, and asking them?

Skrimble · 08/12/2005 22:43

Matalan have a universal plug adaptor if you need it.

followthestarlover · 08/12/2005 22:46

which site did you get it from?

followthestarlover · 08/12/2005 22:48

just looked online and all games are region free so you'll be fine

movies however are not, so if he wanted it for that then he'd need japanese ones...

SnowQueenVictoria · 08/12/2005 22:52

My dp says its likely that it wont play uk games.

He says google for PS2 mods and see what it says.

Also if it says PAL on the box its the british version and NTS on the box its American/Hong Kong.

HTH

SnowQueenVictoria · 08/12/2005 22:52

That should be NTSC then its hong kong/america region.

followthestarlover · 08/12/2005 23:02

it isn't ps2 it's psp! liksang says it's region-free

CrystalmasJingleTips · 09/12/2005 08:46

Yup - I think I'll be OK .... But it's just the point that they pulled a fast one ....
I am a regular online shopper - just cross that I have had my fingers burnt.

The distance selling regs mean you can send the item back for a refund anyway. So just send it back and say you want your money back!

CrystalmasJingleTips · 09/12/2005 08:52

That's my last resort ..... I'm bit nervous about that ... what happens if they dont refund me!!

in retrospect though the website looked fine - I feel that there migh be a load of fraudsters behind the scene ....

You know, this happened to DH.
He bought some thing for his camera, a sony one, and it was shipped here and was from Japan. It came with the wrong sort of charger.
Sony sent hima new charger, as that was the only problem, but they were really helpful.

CrystalmasJingleTips · 09/12/2005 08:54

perhaps I am too much of a cynic - I should perhaps trust people more !

Difference between a japenese psp and a uk one is that it is NTSC and not PAL. The problem with that is the UMD disk are locked and wont play across the formats. The only way would be to somehow download onto the memory card which I think ther are websites to do. The other way would be to get one from Hong Kong or China, which I think is same region as UK.

That is direct info from a Japenese friend of my DH!
