Has anyone tried palm leaf plates?

I'm considering using this tableware for my birthday party. We'll be serving curry.

How strong are the plates? Any other comments?

Thanks.

We go to the market and buy big pieces of actual banana palm leaf v cheaply to use as plates,, as I have seen caribbean and indian families do on special occasions. But you need the sort of market nearby that sells them (lots of asian / caribbean suppliers) and quite dry curry.

Big banana palm leaves make a great table display - could be used as 'charger plates' for dips, samosas, chapattis or whatever.

The Indian side of our family use hands to eat curry on special occasions and from leaves, not knife and fork - but it is an aquired skill!

The plates you link look great, though.

That sounds brilliant Blu, thanks. I don't think the curry will be very dry though so may go for the ones from the website. I also found this site (ex Dragons Den) which looks good and the 2nd picture in this review looks promising ...
