Amazon - will they deliver before Xmas?

Panic! I placed an order on 30 November with Amazon for all my Christmas books and was advised that delivery would be after January 5th! Are they just covering their back or will my Xmas presents now have to become birthday presents?

Hmmm. Don't know. We ordered a VTECH game system for the kids last week and, as promised, it's been despatched already.

Wid - a couple of Christmases ago I had a very bad experience with Amazon not delivering in time for Christmas. If they're saying now that they won't deliver in time, I would honestly consider making different arrangements and either cancel the order or use them as birthday presents as you suggested.

I placed my order on the 2nd December, and it's due to arrive on Tuesday. All items were 24 hours availability (orderable until the 20th Dec, I think). Is it possible that your books had a longer availability time (sometimes things are listed as up to six weeks)

dramaqueen72 · 04/12/2005 23:19

no, amazon do actually mean it when they say when your books will be here....always been spot on with the date they emailed me. so i would be assuming no delivery on those til after christmas.

I'm sure all the books had 24hr availability. Nevermind - I can't be bothered to cancel, but next time I might use Play.com instead: other Mumsnetters seem to recommend that in preference to Amazon. Hey ho!

I ordered books a couple of weeks ago, they said dispatch of 5 days, and they dispatched in 5 days! My only complaint was that the flippin' dope of a postman left it hanging out of my letterbox in the rain, soaking the paperback books I had to put them in the hotpress to take the damp outta them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, my problem two years ago was when they said on the site 24hr availability, then they were pushed back to a couple of weeks... then after January... when the date hit February I gave up and cancelled

I ordered something from Amazon at the end of October. Yorkiegirl ordered the exact same thing at the same time. We both had the free delivery BUT hers arrived about 2 weeks before mine :-(
