The BoBike Mini seat comes with one of two attachments and I don't know which one I need. If someone could explain about quill stems and threadless "ahead" stems for me that would be great....

See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stem_%28bicycle_part%29

You need to look at your bike and see how the handlebar connects to the frame.

If you have a quill stem there is a big locknut where the stem joins the frame.
If you have a threadless ('aheadstem' tm) stem there is no locknut and the handlebar is joined to the rest of the stem by a short bar which bolts on.

Thank you - your quick summary makes it very easy to understand :)

I had looked at wiki and thought I was sure mine is quill but then read something else which said mountain bikes have the other type.

Now I know it is quill I can buy the Bobike mini :)
