I've just finished Me Before You. I loved it! Haven't enjoyed a book so much for ages!

badtasteflump I down loaded a sample of The Grey Coat haven't read it yet but looking forward to it, it looks really good, at the moment I am reading Phil Rickman, The Merrily Watkins series which are quite a nice read

I'm reading Adrian McKinty, The Cold Cold Ground, a rather strange crime novel set in Northern Ireland at the time of the hunger strikes. I like his writing, and I like the main character in this a lot but I don't quite believe in him. He's a Catholic police detective at a time when Catholics in the RUC were quite rare, but it's not just that, he has a lot of 2011 attitudes to everything but this is 1981. Some people object to books set in the recent past being described as historical novels, but I think some things have changed so much in 30 years. Also the plot is a bit preposterous. But I'm still looking forward to catching up with McKinty's other work and will probably buy the next in this series.

My other Kindle read is also set in Ireland, but in the south, actually in the west - Kate Thompson's The O'Hara Affair is henlit/chicklit. The main characters are late 30s/early 40s - one is learning about social networking sites, another is dealing with her mother in law's dementia. The Kindle version has the wrong introduction, which belongs to the next book in the series, but it doesn't matter, I'd just like to read the intro that belongs with this book.

I am reading this. I proofread it for the author when it was still not published, so now that it is, I am reading it again. Hopefully I won't come accross any typos. That would be embarrasing Smile

Revolution 2.0 is an amazing story by the young google employee who started the Egyptian Arab Spring revolution using Facebook and Twitter. The first two chapters are a bit slow but after that it is completely compelling. Recommended, unusual and true.

Requiem for a Wren, by Nevil Shute. Beautiful, spare prose and a great story.

7 habits of highly effective people, Supersense and How To Teach Quantum Physics to Your Dog. I only do fiction on holiday (Jodi Picoults Lone Wolf is on hand for that!)

On The Beach by Nevil Shute. It was free and is one of the saddest things I've ever read - just brilliant.

Cherrypi · 11/03/2012 17:37

Oh I love Nevil Shute. Will go search for free ones of his now.

By the way the complete hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is on the daily deal today.

Just finished 'The Darkest Dying' by Wendy Turner, which was a free download and was excellent - read it in a weekend as I couldn't put it down.

Have just started on 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' by Danny Gillan, which was also free. Have only read the first chapter but it's already sucked me in. Recently also downloads 'Scratch' by same author (also free and also v good).

Sorry that was more than one answer!

badtasteflump · 12/03/2012 12:55

'downloaded' - obviously - doh!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 14/03/2012 12:33

Glad you liked it Dilly Smile. I'm now reading The Last Empress though I'm not enjoying it very much.

Listening to Kind of Cruel which is much better and will be reading Woman in Black next for our Book Group.
