I am back to reading my perennial favourite Terry Pratchett after being completely underwhelmed by the Caitlyn Moran book. What a pile of wank.

DiscoDaisy · 23/08/2011 20:45

I'm half way through Sweet Temptation by Lucy Diamond. It's in the summer sale and only cost 99p.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 25/08/2011 16:23

Just about to start Stone's Fall by Iain Pears for our next month's Book Club.

brillopads · 28/08/2011 23:25

I'm reading 'Nemesis' by Jo Nesbo, and also have The Leopard to read by him; although I'm missing 2 from the series: The Devil's Star & The Redeemer

I just read the knitting circle - fab fab book and discounted to under £1

ravenousbugblatterbeast · 03/09/2011 17:45

Job - a Comedy of Justice by Robert Heinlein, sneakily added thanks to Calibre!

elkiedee · 05/09/2011 12:04

I've bought The Knitting Circle. I'm currently reading (on my Kindle, as well as some current print reading)

Juliet Archer, The Importance of Being Emma - chicklit novel using Emma storyline - I'm planning to work my way through most of Choc Lit's publications, and they're mostly £2.14 on Kindle, a 3rd of paperback price via Amazon.

Michel Faber, The Crimson Petal and the White - this is over 800 pages - I've been wanting to read it for a few months but was put off by the sheer size so bought it via Kindle.

lisab79 · 18/09/2011 14:40

I love seeing what people have been reading! I've just finished the hunger games trilogy and I definately recommend all three books.

wakeupandsmellthecoffee · 18/09/2011 16:13

minsmum · 18/09/2011 16:19

Tyrionlovingyourwork · 18/09/2011 16:26

just finished Book 5 of Game of Thrones and have started One Day.

Read all Jo Nesbo and Harlan Corben and am off to see what all the Wallander fuss is about.

CitizenOscar · 18/09/2011 16:35

The strangers child - alan hollinghurst - not free but good.

Recently read: the knitting circle (ok but a bit formulaic IMO); the tent, the bucket & me by emma Kennedy (v funny, especially if you've experienced family camping holidays) and caitlin moran's book (enjoyed the autobiographical bits the most).

brillopads · 30/09/2011 21:46

Hmm well I wasn't that impressed with "Nemesis" in the end, so not too bothered about getting the ones I'm 'missing' from the series; I'm now reading "The Crimson Petal and the White" by Michel Faber which was recommended by a friend a while ago (I bought it all the way back in April!), I had no idea it was so long! Not seen the TV Adaptation.

Cherrypi · 02/10/2011 14:47

The night circus by Erin morgenstern. Not my usual type of read but it is fabulous so far. Such vivid descriptions and an intriguing story.

Nermalkins · 08/10/2011 14:55

I've just started "the Night Circus" I'm half way through the cement garden but I'm not sure if I want to finish it

pranma · 08/10/2011 18:17

the Omen machine by Terry Goodkind-no good if you havent read the rest of the sword of Truth series and not free.
I really enjoyed Kokk and Tvatt[honestly] a travel book about cycling in Scandinavia. It is very funny.

ariadneoliver · 09/10/2011 17:26

After seeing the film I got 'Tinker Tailor' then I downloaded 'The Honourable Schoolboy', I'm now reading the final part of the trilogy 'Smiley's People'. All good stuff.

Vasily Grossman's Life and Fate and Cynthia Harrod Eagles, The Fallen Kings, which is #32 in her Morland Dynasty family saga series. I borrowed the latter in hardback from the library but it's too big to carry around while reading, and I have #27-#31 in paperback at home.

elkiedee · 10/10/2011 12:44

I've also bought the Salt Publishing volumes Makiko mentions, and a few other 86p bargains at the same time. And The Night Circus, not so cheap but not bad value at £3.99 since the dead tree version is hardback, though apparently gorgeous to look at.

TroelsHartmann · 11/10/2011 09:51

thanks for the Salt Publishing tip-off, they have a lot of good stuff there..

PeelThemWithTheirMetalKnives · 23/10/2011 18:21

Thanks for all those ideas everybody. A good freebie is Diary of a Nobody, very funny and it all ties up nicely at the end. Amusing to read about the problems with their Edwardian teenager.

I'm reading The Corner by David Simon about drug users in 90s Baltimore. Sounds a bit grim but he make you care about his subjects. Previously I read his Homicide, the book The Wire is based on.

HauntyMython · 23/10/2011 18:29

I'm not reading anything on mine ATM - I'm reading Tropic of Cancer which I couldn't find as an ebook.

I work in a library and we just had a display of books which have been banned in the past, so I've downloaded samples (or full version where they're free) of many of them. I read Lady Chatterly's Lover on my kindle recently... It was... Interesting Hmm

I rarely buy ebooks, I just use my kindle for free/very cheap classics and samples - I see soooo many books I want to read working there, so it's easier to download the first chapter of each one I see than write down a reading list which I'll inevitably lose!
