Costco - How good is it?

MummyJules · 02/12/2005 18:20

Just wondered if people can give me an idea of prices and quantities for Costco on things like wine, pates, cakes, smoked salmon, ham etc and anything else that would be suitable as I planning on going next week to cater for an event for over 100 people!

TIA,

Jules

It's very good - although the range is limited. Tends to be good stuff - cheaper rather than cheap stuff that's very cheap if you see what I mean !
eg Hardys Stamp - about £18 + Vat for 6 bottles that I can quote that

I'm not good at remembering exact prices but it is a LOT cheaper than shopping in the supermarket. The lines they stock tend to be good quality brands though, so it is not chirpy cheap IYKWIM

The only thing I can really remember is that a box of 24 cans of coke costs about £4.50!

Side of smoked salmon probably about £10.

Cakes are good price - £14.99 for a personalised, decorated sponge cake that feeds about 80 people.

They do excellent big tubs of dips which are very nice and a good price.

Huge sack of baking potatoes is £5.

It's excellent - but do remember you have to pay to become a member before buying anything. It costs about £29 for annual personal subscription.
Well worth every penny though!

It's fab if you entertain a lot!

My BIL buys big things ie sofas or electrical things from costco then takest them back for a refund when they are fedup with it!

It's really good. We got lots of food for dd2's Christening: boxes of white wine, large square pizzas to slice, sausage rolls, fresh sandwich fillings, fresh pasta dishes. Also got napkins, paper plates and strong plastic cutlery.

Some things are more expensive - you have to watch it a bit! But if you don't want to run out, it's the way to go
