Pictionary ?

NomDePlume · 30/11/2005 15:01

What's the one where you have to describe/mime the item without actually naming it ?

mazzystar · 30/11/2005 15:02

(shudders)

has always led to upset in my experience.

NomDePlume · 30/11/2005 15:03

Trivial Pursuit ?

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 30/11/2005 15:03

Cranium is hilarious.

Would deffo recommend that.

Or Articulate, thats another good one.

Guaranteed larfs!

NomDePlume · 30/11/2005 15:03

Articulate, that's the one !

lilibet · 30/11/2005 15:04

Cranium cadoo is wonderful if there are children involved

Never tried Cranium for just adults but I bet thats as good

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 15:04

trivial pursuit too complicated for xmas day and a bit serious

i thought of cranium but is it a thinking game?

marks and spencer have charades for a fiver so i might get that

whats articulate about?

OP posts:
lilibet · 30/11/2005 15:06

Cranium Cadoo has playdough, acting, drawing, puzzles and is really good.

We have loved playing it with ds2, 8 and my mum 78, and a few of us in the middle!

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 15:06

there is such a mixture of people

me and dh and dd's (aged 3 and 1)

mum and dad
bro and girlfriend
(all who will be pissed by teatime)

FIL and his sister and her husband
(all who are boring and not a larf in the least and who just want to watch telly and fall asleep)

Articulate is where you describe things, I think.

Cranium is fabbo.

Frayedknot · 30/11/2005 15:06

Pictionary is great, we usually play it on Christmas Day, but this year, I have bought us one of those name that tune type CD's.

marthamoo · 30/11/2005 15:07

Cranium is fab - love it.

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 15:07

ooh i cant DECIDE

NomDePlume · 30/11/2005 15:08

I think I might buy one for Boxing Day now, we've got the rellies over too.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 30/11/2005 15:08

Well if you have pissed up people those games will be even better.

Trying to act out reproduction silently is very hard, trying to do it when your off your head will be unmissable

What about Jenga or something like that. Your girls could get in to that a bit.

mazzystar · 30/11/2005 15:10

hmmm

like i said.

charades is v adaptable (even for littles and pissed people).

but why do you need to buy it, just get everyone to write a list of things on scraps of paper in between xmas dinner courses.

they do a pictionary with play dough where you have to make things and people guess what they are,. sure a few too many sherries might help with people's sculpture skills...

have fun

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 15:14

pictionary
or
articulate
or
cranium

and charades i think thrown in

or 'give us a clue' as we call it in this house!

OP posts:
NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 30/11/2005 15:15

Cranium.

You get playdoe in that too and some drawing pads.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 30/11/2005 15:16

Really, Cranium is a combination of Articulate, Pictionary and Charades.

smw9927 · 30/11/2005 15:18

Suggestions:

Articulate - great for a large group of adults - but may be difficult if there are young children.

Pass the Bomb - fun & easy; there is also a junior version

Rapidough - (a bit like pictionary but teams model in playdough instead) - good game for after dinner, even if you have had a few drinks

Hullabaloo - fun and certain to cause a few heated discussion; best for after dinner

I LOVE boardgames; we've got all of the above and are looking for a new one for this year!

MistleToo · 30/11/2005 15:19

if its for all adults you can't beat Absolute Balderdash - hilarious!

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 15:22

there is a cranium for kids

there is also a cranium congo which sounds good!

whats hullabaloo?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 30/11/2005 15:24

i think ill get cranium based on bethlehemgirls post

thanks ever ever so much!

OP posts:
NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 30/11/2005 15:25

I think Hullabaloo is similar to Cranium or so I have been told.
