can anyone recommend me a slow cooker?

I've asked for one for christmas but I have to specify which one. In John Lewis they have the Tefal rice/steamer/slow cooker, a 6 litre one of a brand i can't remember (morphy richards?) and a 6.5 litre cuisinart table top cooker.
It needs to be big enough for a growing family of four and as user friendly as possible.
Can anyone recomment any of these?
Many thanks

I've got exactly the same problem, if you search archived messages, products section and slow cooker in subject line there are over 100 threads that I found useful last night!

OK done my duty and ploughed through the old messages. Hardly any mention particular types of cooker. GeorginaA preferred morphy richards to tefal.
But will 6 litres be much too big?

Mine is a Rival Crock pot bought from Argos for around £35 I think. I love it and use it regularly. Pretty basic and simple to use with High, low and keep warm functions. It's 6.5 litre and there are five of us. Definitely not too big. I usually half fill it for us all and iif we have guests then there's room to add extra. HTH
