I think its the first Clarice Bean Novel. Can't check as I've wrapped it and sent it down your way with Mum. Does that sound right? She's illustrated in a similar way to "Lola and Charlie"-pointy chin etc, I shied away from Milly Molly Mandy as too "Enid Blyton"-y, and I know you've done those to death. Is Mrs Pepperpot too young? They had some nice compilations in Waterstone's.

I did buy her pippi longstocking but she's not keen

Definitely not a picture book, a novel, chapters and all, about 150pages I think.

foxinsocks · 28/11/2005 14:22

gobbolino is dd's fave aswell
(and the little wooden horse)

Have you tried the dreaded Rainbow/Jewel fairy books? (you can't miss them in the shops)

Other possibilities
Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf
Winnie the Witch
Worst Witch stories
The Polar Express
The Fairy Chronicles (may be a bit old)

foxinsocks · 28/11/2005 14:25

have you done the other unicorn books like The Night of the Unicorn?

Check Ebay for your out of print book (although they did have them on offer in the AMazon market place...)

The Sophie books have been a success with every girl I've given them too (my present to every girl when DD2 was in Yr1!).

The Jones and the Giants by Julia Donaldson - my DD aged 6 loved this.

pippi123 · 30/11/2005 10:10

Actually I think it's the Giants and the Jones!
