White noise tapes

Have just been looking in PHP catalogue and seen this item which claims to be a miracle cure for babies that won't settle. It's a set of tapes that play white noise, which soothes the baby to sleep. Now, I have tried the hairdyer which works, but she wakes if I turn it off too soon and I don't really want to leave it on too long, and certainly not if I want to leave the room, so to me these tapes sound ideal.

Just wondering if anyone else has used them or something similar?

Hi Gingerbabe, we've just made our own on another thread (thanks to pumpkin2 ) - try this out, I just made the track up to 10mins and if this isn't long enough I set it to repeat on the cd player...

When DD (17) was a baby we had a cassette tape called the Baby Soother which you had to play on an "old" cassette player under the cot. You had to start before the baby was 6 weeks old. As she used to scream for hours on end we gave it a go & it worked like a charm.

We got it out again when DS2 was first born, as he was another screamer (DS1 was an angel!), & put it on the first time with DD in the room. She was then 3.5. She went straight off to sleep!

I don't know whether you can still buy it (ours came from Boots).
