A friend of mine has links with a little orphanage in Zimbabwe and we're sending over a Christmas package.
We wanted to get some nice dolls for them with removable clothes (preferably).... they really need to be soft dolls so that they can go in the wash, and also so that they are easier to send over..

we don't have a huge budget, unless anyone would like to make a donation!!!! so reasonable prices please!!!

M&S had some lovely ones last year - I think Tescos did too (last year again)

I can't see any M&S ones on-line this year tho'

starlover · 26/11/2005 21:07

moondog · 26/11/2005 21:09

Just to say that the term 'ethnic' is meaningless.
We're all ethnic....

katymac · 26/11/2005 21:13

would you rather multicultural?

as that and ethnic are how they are classified in most shops/ranges

starlover · 26/11/2005 21:16

i was thinkinjg that moondog... but as katymac says, they do seem to be classed as that in shops!

i was a bit worried about putting black, because i was reading another thread the other day and I think general consensus was it's a bit offensive

OP posts:
moondog · 26/11/2005 21:23

Eh???

Balci is offensive?

Since when?

Multi cultural...marginally better I reckon but a doll can't technically be multicultural unless it is a mixed race doll. How about a 'multi cultural selection of dolls? Syntactically more accurate.

(No offence btw starlover--just thinking it over.)

katymac · 26/11/2005 21:23

Which link

this one?

Or this one?

moondog · 26/11/2005 21:23

'Black' that should read obviously..

starlover · 26/11/2005 21:24

first one comes up with a 404 error

second one is just a list of links! however have found some on mailorderexpress that i think will be ok! so thanks!

OP posts:
starlover · 26/11/2005 21:25

apparently so moondog! anyway.. i should have probably put African dolls. or something.

OP posts:
starlover · 26/11/2005 21:25

btw balci is VERY offensive

OP posts:
moondog · 26/11/2005 21:28

lol
I'll remember that sl!

fennel · 26/11/2005 21:28

there is a brown rag doll with removable clothes in the Raggie Maggie range. we have her. very lightweight and washable. you can get them all over the place.

starlover · 26/11/2005 21:39
