plugging xmas outdoor lights in

how do you plug yours in?
do you have a whole through the wall and feed the wirer thruogh?
can you take the transformer off to thread the wirer through?

any info apreciated.

in mu mums house they have the double glazed windows that lock in 2 positions.... completley closed or a 'little air gap'...

and they manage to get the wire to fit through the 'little air gap' position
