Not like lego... a bit more complicated (well the older sets are).

It is wonderful and holds it's play value for years!

dressedupasagiantcod · 18/11/2005 18:54

but woudl start em younger on it than they say
think i missed the boat wit my elder two

Takes ages to put the larger sets together. It is nothing like Lego in that the kids would struggle to make it by themselves and afterwards you never want to take it apart and rebuild ! Great play value and attention to detail but lots of small bits which you may need to confiscate if little ones are around.

Think it comes in one piece so probably quite robust but there are small pieces within the set. Have seen it on offer for £19.99 and the airport for £29.99.

dressedupasagiantcod · 18/11/2005 21:35

yes and the rcylcing truck very popular wihr ds3 ( 3 in march_

Playmobil is the cat's pyjamas.

Ds given a playmobil castle 18 months ago by in-laws, rather against my will, as I remembered the elaborate dolls' house they gave dd1 that stood around gathering dust.

Have since eaten my words as he played with castle every single day for about 10 months. Have since acquired a pirate ship as well, and they all get played with at least once a week. Ds is now 6.

charliecat · 18/11/2005 21:58

The zoo is a Pain in The arse to set up...however even in its throw in the toy box never to be properly assembled again state it gets played with ALL THE TIME.

dressedupasagiantcod · 18/11/2005 21:58

vickiyumyum · 18/11/2005 22:05

hope the aeroplane is suitable for a 3yo as i have brought it for ds2 for xmas. it was £19.99 on elc.com and if you use the code holly you get 20% off so ordered noahs ark as well.

ds2 had the pirate ships for xmas last year and loves them, admittedly the sail are a beep to keep on and we now only have the one sail on each ship. i also succumbed and rdered the viking ship from toys r us.

he loves it and plays with it every day, he saw the dinosaur sets in elc the other day, but i think he can wait until his birthday for those.

dressedupasagiantcod · 18/11/2005 22:05

we also have viking fort and hospital (which was my sister's about 20 years ago...)

collision · 18/11/2005 22:07

Vickyumyum.....what are the dinosaur sets? Playmobil? My ds is dinosaur crazy!

soapbox · 18/11/2005 22:07

My DS(5) has loads of it - and plays with it all the time. Its either lego or playmobile he plays with and has been for a long time now!

His favourites at the moment are the knights sets, although I would say the aeroplane which he got when he was 2.5 and airport which he got at 3 have probably had the longest play value.

He loves the viking boat and the pirate sets.

He's just starting to get the idea of armies and so spends all his time now setting up the goodies vs the baddies on various battle fronts!

TK Maxx has got a lot of playmobil in at the moment at roughly half price
