Its alot of money and you cant put xbox play station etc on LCD tvs.

Tell him it's still too soon, new technology, reliability not tested yet blah blah.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/11/2005 16:46

They get cheaper all the time - the big ones will be much cheaper (and more reliable) in a few years' time.

I have been saying this for years, and it's always true, and it keeps us from buying one ...

Why can you not put playstation on them? DP says course you can.
DP has looked and settled on a model with hdmi and once the hdmi compatible dvd recorder comes out then he's buying both.
I'm thoroughly pissed off about it actually...

Going through the same thing with dh at the mo. our tv is getting slow when you turn it on (picture wise) and so dh wants a new tv before xmas, but of course that means new tv, dvd recorder, digibox and stereo system which are all compatable, matching and the same brand and colour so it all looks nice. We don't even use a stereo.
When will they grow up fgs

I've been dragging my feet over DH getting a plasma for years although we have bought a small LCD for the kitchen as it takes up so little room. I've been v disappointed by the picture quality though - changes depending on angle viewed from and can be a joke watching titles go up or people running around as there are 'go faster' stripes left behind them. And we bought a 'good' model only a year ago.

With DH it has been about understanding money e.g. he is not good at making sensible money decisiosn. In the summer, for example, he chose to upgrade to the manager's special when renting a car. Only a proprtion of this was covered by the company so a rather large sum came out of our personal account to cover his driving a Jag on that trip. I pointed out to him that if he did not make these bad decisions, he could put money aside for a plasma, in fact would prob have had one years ago.

We bought him a terramundi and now he's saving up. My dad got £600 in his, droppping in 10p, 20p, 50p and £1 coins.

piffle we bought a 42" with the savings we made from giving up smoking.
I must say it was worth every fag we didnt smoke

I must say I would really like a new TV. our old one is small, the volume is shite and the picture awkward - dp does know a lot about gadgets, so he would choose properly.
There are other considerations like a wall mounted tv would mean changing our living room, prob getting rid of a couch and getting some chairs instead and some furniture.
I guess I just pale at people, let alone us spending over a grand on a telly!

DH bought a LCD TV & I am not impressed by the picture quality- Skin tones sometimes look a bit odd. Its nice & flat though !
