Does anyone know where I can get a large unbreakable egg-timer? Preferably from either a large chain, or mail order.

Faith, have you tried Lakeland, they are the only ones I can think of, they have a great website.

Providing you want it in the kitchen and you have a microwave try putting a jug of water in on the minimum power setting for the time required. We've found this a useful way of timing things.

Great idea...but...no microwave, and it needs to be used around the house! it's dd's teachers suggestion as a way to encourage her to be quicker at dressing, shoe changing etc...she is quite competitive and likes a challenge. I sometimes count, but it's not always possible. They have these timers at school, but they came from an educational materials supplier, and I'd probably have to buy 10!

Look in charity shops, I used to get mine from there, like you they were used for how long they had on the swings and turns on just about everything!
