Does anyone know about car insurance?

I have bought a new car, but we are keeping the other car that I am a named driver on. I have years of no claims bonus but Esure told me I have to transfer my no claims from one car to another. Otherwise my insurance will not have a no claims discount.

DH disagrees and says my no claims is for me not my car. Does anyone know which is correct?

Thanks wise MNetters Smile

Esure are strangely correct.

I have a car with 13 years no claims discount.

2 years ago I bought a van. I could only put no claims discount on if it was from a policy that had expired or about to expire. So had to insure it with no no claims. I currently have 2 policies - one with 13 years no claims and the other with 2.

Seems very wrong.

I don't know if different companies may have different stands on this.

Thanks for your response Viva and sorry for not replying sooner. Is your van insured with Esure or someone else? It's too late to do anything about it now but I'll be shopping around next year for sure.
