Dance mat

Can anyone recommend a dance mat for my dd she's 7. We want one that will be easy enough to start off, but that will sustain her interest by becoming harder and having lots of music. To be honest I know very little about them... do they come with their own music or do you add your own. If they come with their own music we want one with lots of choice ( so it doesn't get on our nerves).
Would you recommend tho ones that go in the TV or not?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Would this be worth a look?

so is that how you hurt your knee dancing lou?

I bought my dd one last year - she was 13 at the time but there are different levels. Hers goes with a ps1. Its knackering for me but she loves it and both her brothers 10 and 6 can do it, but her mum can't!!

thanks, i've looked at the link but as i say I know very little about this and even less about play stations! Do you need a play station as well as the dance mat? Is this one you play through the TV? Or am I just being thick??????????

The one lou33 linked to is a Playstation one, but I noticed in the GLTC catalogue today there's one you plug straight into a TV, and I think they sell them in Argos too. I'm pretty sure you just have to take whatever music they give you, unfortunately!

What a fab idea for dd for Christmas!
DS is getting funky footprints off grandma so might put this suggestion their way too.
Thanks for the inspiration!

They do have them in Argos, and I am sure I have seen them recently in ELC and Toys R Us.

My sister (21) wants me to get DD one so she can have a go. DD is 18 months old! Mind, I did think the Barney one might be okay for her (or my sister)

Posey - we have a funky footprints too. DD loves it, as do her little friends.

Well Fio dancing was involved I have to admit!

I bought myself a PS2 with dance mat and I love it!

puddingz · 08/10/2003 21:58

WH Smith did a combo pack with the PS2 game and the mat and so did Amazon. Damn good it is The whole family loves it- can't do it but we still love it. I've just seen one in Superdrug (of all places!) which just plugs straight into the tv. The graphics are basics but it's cheaper than the PS2 option.

catyc · 22/10/2003 12:09

Superdrug do a really good one if you don't want to spend too much (I paid £12.99 but I think they're £14.99 now). It plugs straight into the TV, you can either dance to the music or it's got a pinball & splat-the-rat type game.

I bought it for myself (34 going on 14) because I hate doing exercise but need to lose a bit of weight. My ds (1yr) likes to play 'grab mummy's leg' when I'm on it so it keeps us both amused.

I've just been given an old playstation. Will these dancemat things be compatible with all of them - I know nothing of playstations?

Posey · 22/10/2003 20:46

catyc - I just saw those in Superdrug today and was wondering if they were any good. Think I'll pop back tomorrow and get one for dd for Christmas. Thanks for the recommendation!
