and do you ever ask about their origins, factory conditions or what the product are made of?

Do you look for ethically produced toys at all?

good question

I am guessing the Gulag days are over or else re-named. China isn't all slave labour and drudgery, there are a lort oentrepreneurs and businesses wh ounderstand the West accepts certain conditions. However I would guess that anything Walmart are puttingout at such low prices and that is made in China is coming from someonw pretty younga ndworking pretty long hours

I know there are good manufacturers/suppliers in China..but I'm interested to know what sort of proportion that might be and and what is classified as "good"

Plan toys who also now have Brio use sustainable products and modern factories in thailand, i find it hard to believe that the look alike rail track products which are so cheap can be as ethically produced. but i don't know.

There have been lots of changes in the last few years.

Now the problem in China tends to be low pay and long hours rather than children and prisoners, but I would like to know more about the health risks in less compliant factories and how successful the corporate companies like mattel have been in stamping out corruption and bad practice whoch they have tried to do.

But I know that a lot of toys are produced in less salubrious circumstances, [ossibly not the branded ones?

Of course being made in the far East doens't stop them being "good" and being made in the Uk could also be of poor amterials in poor conditions.

I have been loking for info but it's hard to find anything up to date (and I sell toys)

Haba toys made in Germany tick all the boxes but they are very expensive for most people

One of my suppliers states:-
"Whilst most of our products are from China and the Far East, we only place orders with factories we have personally visited or to the best of our ability have checked to see that working standards are acceptable, that safety euipment is used, that no one under age is employed. We also endeavour to talk to employees and determine that they are happy with the working conditions........"
