I think Ds would like this judging by the 'i want that for xmas when it snows' remarks when the ad is on.

Have just discovered it is reduced from £30 to £20 so I don't mind getting it, but it sayd age 4+, and I just wondered if there was a specific reason for that ???

Ds will be 3 on 6th dec.

It is small parts with Playmobil, have you got any other bits Nutty? Sometimes eg the flowers are very tiny.
But it's certainly ds2's fave toy (he's 2.5) and he has been playing with it for more than a year, supervised when younger. he never puts anything in his mouth now so it's fine. You can always remove the very tiny bits/glue the hats on etc if you are really worried.
But if ds no longer puts things in his mouth then it'd be fine. I luuuuurve playmobil the catalogue is like mummy porn [sad person that I am}

Oh i think he will be fine then. thanks Clary.

He doesn't put stuff in his mouth anymore and we are used to bits as Dd has loads of Polly Pocket stuff.

Will add it to his list then

hi elc have this for £20 and you can use code best05 for £5 off or holly for £20% off. my ds1 aged 3.4 has this and loves it, the only small parts are some juice cartons and cups - long since lost in our house.

bigdonna · 13/11/2005 09:18

nutcracker woolworths have the aeroplane for £19.99.

bigdonna · 13/11/2005 09:19

they also have the 4x4 with jet on back for £19.99

IMO playmobile is fine for 3 year olds. and for any children who really DONT put little bits in their mouths!

LIZS · 13/11/2005 10:34

dd has loved playing with her brother's playmobil since before she was 3 ! If you can see one in Woolies or a toy shop it would have a breakdown of the individual pieces ont he back and you can clearly see if anything very small is in there. We kept the coins and cannon balls from the pirates aside for a while. It can be quite fiddly to get figures in and out but generlaly I'd say 3 would be ok.

We're probably going to get dd , just 4, the Victorian doll's house for Christmas - mailorderexpress are including a "free" kitchen set. ds might get the Dragon castle and Toys r Us have a "free" dragon with it ! Definitely pays to shop around for deals. Watch out though cos the airport set itself is expensive if you ever want to add to it and Playmobil is addictive !

DS1 had to go to casualty to have a Playmobile man's hand removed from his nostril, he was about 3 at the time. DS1 - "Mummy I've got a toy up my nose", me - "Yeah, yeah, of course", thought he was having me on, it was hours later that I actually noticed it and believed him.

bubblerock · 13/11/2005 14:04

DS2 got this for his 2nd birthday last week, it's not got many small parts, we just took away the little cups and cartons of juice that were with it but the rest of it is chunky. I would probably get some more people to be passengers in the plane if you haven't got any others.

vickiyumyum · 13/11/2005 14:21

the bigger bits of playmobil and the people are good for 3 years and up, although it will be you assembling it and ds palying with it.

we brought ds2 the pirate ship last eyar and hs still plays with it now, am just trying to locate a skeleton as he lost the one that came with it.

NannyL · 13/11/2005 14:36

vickymum.... write to playmobile.... we did that once expalining the bits we had lost and got sent em all for FREE!!!!

vickiyumyum · 13/11/2005 14:38

oh, might try that as had been looking on ebay and they were going for quite a lot of money for one piece of playmobil!
