Booster car seat recommendations wanted please.

My PILs are looking to replace DD's car seat for their car. She currently uses a Bebe Confort car seat (suitable from birth to 4 years). She is 3.5yo and they are looking to replace it in the New Year.

We have an Isofix Jane booster car seat, but it was quite expensive. And my new car has a special Smart car seat, again expensive.

However, PILs obviosuly would rather not sepnd so much, as they only have one daya week, and that will stop next September when she goes to school. They will have her in holidays, etc though and will use it with any subsequent grandchildren they have. And obviously these boosters seats can be used right up until the age of 11.

As we always have ISOFIX car seats ourself, safety is an issue for me, but I can understand them not wanting to fork out loads.

So, what are your recommendations for a safe (does well in which reports, etc) and reasonably priced booster seat?

How much does she weigh now ? I started a thread earlier today looking for something suitable for dd who is 13kg - not many fresh ideas yet but generally they would recommend a harnessed one until 18kg I think, like Britax Elite. We have a Maxi Cosi Rodi for ds which we really like, but again only suitable from 15kg and not cheap.

Just a thought, could you pay the difference perhaps, then you'll have the car seat you want but your folks won't have to fork out all the money for it?

She is just over 2.5 stone, so about 16kgs I think. Not weighed her for a couple of months though, so not hundred percent sure.

The Isofix one she has uses a normal car seat belt and we are more than happy with that.

If we can't find a car one we are happy with at their suggest price range (not given BTW, so not sure) we will suggest adding to it. Mind you they are usually more than willing to go along with what we suggest anyway.

nope, it's the graco rally sport. The freeway is for 9mths and over.

I know one of the Graco ones did bady, but not sure which. Trying to avoid the bad ones.

What's your Smart one like Hulababy? Is it really lovely? Is it very expensive?

No idea yet! My new car comes on Thursday and I will find out. It cost £190!!!!!!!!

I need lots of seats - but virtually no distance or speed......so something very economical with petrol?

you want to go for the maxi cosy rodi, the Britax Kid or the Britax Highliner... all of which do really well... (or the concord lift which did the best (but only by 1 point and ive NEVER heard of it, or seen it in 'real' life!)

I got the Britax Highliner from motehrcare a few months ago on offer for £39.99

Yes dont bother with the graco ones (ie junior plus).... they are crap according to which... as is the Britax Ranger and Britax Cruisers plus, mamas and papas passaggio and Storchenmuhle starlight SP.... they had a car seats to avoid section that featured all these

Kiddicare do the Concord Lift. There is even a pink colourway ! However I've seen it in use (popular in German speaking parts of Europe) and felt the extended head rest unnecessarily obstructed the rear view because, unlike the Rodi , the support for the head rest is always at full height even when the head rest itself is used lower iyswim. Wish they'd do an Isofix Rodi.
