DS, 4, seems to be have party invitations coming out his ears at the moment so am buying lots of presents, but I just wanted to find out how much you all spend on a present and what sort of things you buy.

Close friends kids £10 plus but just Dss friends then around £5. I try to stock up on things so I don't get caught out, still do though

Most of our friends have children the same age, in fact born the same month as ds, so we had about 10 birthdays last March / April. Ds's was one of the last so I was very embarrassed to find that while I thought a nice book (costing about £5 to £6) was an appropriate present, everyone else had been much more generous and bought things around the £10 to £15 mark! I am planning to make up for it this year

About £7 or £8 including a card and wrapping paper.

I buy 10p wrapping paper from a cheapy shop in town and specific age cards 49p from Sainsburys!

I spend £10 on close friends, the fiver is for classmates etc
