I don't have one, and part of me things, oh cool, I want one of those, however....

as a sahm i do not need one do i? I only travel on the tube alone once a week to work, and every few months for some alone shopping.....

does anyone have one who fits my description of use?

convince me either way, not that I can afford, but i can dream

My daughter wants an Ipod mini (preferably in green) for Christmas. Unfortunately they have stopped producing them and it is now the Ipod Nano but no, she doesn't want one of those. Great.

What about in the car? I've got playlists for DS and we often played them in the car (this was before my lovely, shiny, white iPod got stolen) and I've downloaded audio books on it for him. I also used it at home all the time, plugged into my iPal speaker which made it portable. You can plug them into most hi-fi systems.

Also great for parties/dinner parties etc.

Go on, get one, they're great!!!

alittlebitshy · 09/11/2005 17:33

also is an mp3 player (ie cheaper) the same ish????

i'm not being critical, but why would i plug it into stereo if presumably i have the music on disc too???

complete confused novice here

i have an ipod mini and i am a sahm. i use it quite often. we used it on holiday in a car with a tape player, it was great.

Alittlebitshy - one of the main benefits of an iPod is that you can make a playlist of just your favourite songs so it's like having your ultimate compilation album or radio station which can include as many of your favourite tracks as you like. If I put a CD on the stereo I often won't want to listen to all of it, perhaps 4 or 5 tracks and then listen to another artist. An iPod takes away the need to change CDs every 5 minutes.

You can make as many different playlists as you like - one for relaxing in the bath, going for a jog (I wish!), driving etc. etc.

Hope that helps.

If you get an iPod the first thing you should do is change the headphones as muggers go for the white headphones because they know exactly what they are. A friend of mine was mugged twice in 6 weeks and all they took was his iPod.

He has since gotten a new one and changed the headphones (on advise from the police)for some nice black ones and has had the iPod for nearly a year without anyone so much as looking twice at him.

please someone answer alittlebitshy as i dont know the difference between a ipod and a mp3 player.

LilacBump · 09/11/2005 21:47

an ipod is an mp3 player. the amount of storage (the amount of songs you can put on it) is what is puts up the price of them. also, some players have an fm radio in it too. and some ipods you can store and view photos on.

i use my ipod a lot in the car.... i've got an i trip and it is sooooo amazing... can't get over the wireless thing... surely there should be a wire somewhere connecting it altogether!

piffle · 11/11/2005 14:42

I've got an ipod nano present from dp from the US.
I want an idog and an itrip for xmas

MrsSpoon · 12/11/2005 00:38

csa, I think you've hit the nail on the head, I'm not usually one to be impressed by techy gadgets but I did drool over one at the airport recently. DH suggested I could get an MP3 player at a fraction of the price but I'm having none of it. I also have to confess that I wouldn't know what to do with either an iPod or an MP3 player but apparently DH knows so I could get round that.

csa · 14/11/2005 10:10

what's an idog piffle?
