We've got DD a new bed and she's very excited, but we can't get bedding anywhere that isn't 50/50 cotton/polyester. She's prone to eczema and overheating so we want to keep to 100% cotton bedding. Mothercare have, unhelpfully, discontinued the plain two-tone 100% cotton line they did before and when we ordered a duvet cover set from them, described as 100% cotton on their website, it arrived with a 56% Polyester 44% Cotton sticker on it (it still says 100% cotton on the website BTW). The bed's pink and DD would like pink bedding. If anyone knows of good quality cotton bedding, please let me know. John Lewis, M&S and BHS have all let us down so far.

DS gets DD's old bed as soon as he consents to move out of his cot - we need new jersey fitted sheets for this - again preferably 100% cotton, but in 2'6" width (75cm). The previous ones were from Mothercare but they're out of stock or not available there. Aarrgghh! I've seen Davros's jersey sheet thread - but they're 3' single sheets, not the narrow ones.

TIA

Have you tried Ikea or The White Company?

(Haven't checked the sizes in either but Ikea do a big range of sizes in their sheets).

Saw some kids bedding in TKMaxx - pink gingham and remember checking if they were 100% cotton and some were, some weren't - depending on the brands.

Healthy House do pure cotton stuff for allergy sufferers.

tamum · 09/11/2005 16:54

I don't know if they still have the same stuff in but dd has some really nice pink bedding from Laura Ashley that's definitely pure cotton.

Here's a nice Laura Ashley duvet cover

Or here 20% off at the moment, so not so exorbitant.

excellent - will take her to LA tomorrow to spend her birthday money. Thanks. Any suggestions for the fitted jersey sheets for the 2'6'' mattress anyone?

La redoute - all their bedding is 100% cotton I believe, some fab designs and good prices, and they do narrow sheets

website - go to Interieurs and wander about. It is a very frustrating website though, I would recommend getting an actual catalogue to see the full range.

Darn it, they don't seem to have the 2'6 ones in jersey. But you could put a 3' sheet on a 2'6 bed OK if you tuck the edges under hard (other way round would be tricky!)

SCÉNARIO Pastel fitted sheet - cotton

This is woven but comes in loads of colours and an 80cm size, will that do?

Agree La Redouts and Vertbaudet well worth looking at, but French duvet covers often have funny flappy bits at the bottom instead of poppers/buttons, quite good for small children though as you can tuck them in..

Thanks everyone. DD is sleeping on/under a La Redoute Disney Princess fitted sheet and duvet in 100% cotton (all Disney Princess gear in the UK appears to be 50/50 cotton/poly) and loving it. I too am loving not having to go in at 4am to return the duvet to the bed after it fell off, because now the tucking-in flap keeps it in place.

DS is happy on his narrow 100% cotton fitted sheets, unfortunately not jersey, but still relatively soft after a tumble dry. Also from La Redoute.

The only gripe I have with this French bunch is the pillow shapes they use (square or bolster) means I can't get pillow cases there, but we've made do. I did use a code gleaned on another thread and got 10% off, free delivery and a phone (a strange phone, mind, but free).

I also got some enormously reduced 100% duvet cover sets from Laura Ashley . Reduced I think cause they were last years' design and then another 20% off for, I dunno, maybe they liked the look of me.

DW is very impressed - got what exactly what I needed, in colours and designs that keep the DCs happy and in (well) under budget. Thanks, as usual to the power of Mumsnet. Cheers
