Thomas videos

We have a Thomas DVD (our only DVD, actually) which DS1 enjoys - at the end there are clips from other Thomas DVDs which include:

  • Thomas going off the end of a track and falling into a river / sea with announcement "He's fallen in the water" (acutally, not sure whether "he's fallen in the water" is on the video, or is just what DS1 announces every time he watches it), and
  • Percy (I think) coming out through the wall of a factory covered in brown stuff (assume chocolate), to which DS1 announces "he's covered in chocolate.

Anyway, I'd like to get another Thomas DVD and would love to get those stories - so, what's the story, and which DVD are they on?

Many thanks from an overexcited 3 yr old!

Welcome to the delights of obsessed children!!!
The "He's fallen in the water!!" line is ds' favourite, he cracks up!! It's from Something Fishy and is on the Engines to the Rescue DVD.
Percy is the Percy's chocolate Crunch and is on the Bumper party Collection.
I should know as my ds has 13 Thomas DVDs

The shame of this...I like the film Thomas and the Magic Railroad

SqueakyCat · 08/11/2005 20:38

My DH said "I'm sure you can find out on the web" ... and he was right.

HOW many Thomas DVDs???

Anyway "Engines to the rescue" here we come.

Should I save it for Christmas, or give it to him straight away?
(Note to self: I am pretty bored with the 7 stories on the one we've got.

RnB - is it really your DH watching the Thomas songs?

Ds always loved the story about the 'Big boulder' but hid behind a cushion as he was sooo scared - was totally Thomas mad (and still has it in a box in his room, aged 7)

spursmum · 08/11/2005 20:44

My ds has ASD and is addicted to Thomas. We have 13 DVDs, books, bags, umbrella, soft toy Thomas, large train sets, PJs, clothes etc. At least it is an obsession that will be enjoyed by another child in years to come and anything that he grows out of will go to a good home.

SqueakyCat · 08/11/2005 20:53

Hi Spursmum, DS1 is being assessed for "probaby Aspergers" - and is pretty Thomas-mad. I am more fond of Thomas than any of the other characters he's into, so am happy to encorage, but we don't really do TV / DVDs much. We do have many books, plus underwear, puzzles etc.

Thomas is great for ASD/Aspergers as it's non-threatening, easy to read faces, short in length to encourage attention and will probably lead to a more appropriate interest in RL trains.

SqueakyCat · 08/11/2005 21:07

That should be "many Thomas books, underwear" etc.

I assume everyone here has underwear of some desciption for their children.

You could buy both and give him one now. That way you'll have a new when you are tired of watching the one you give him now.

We are Thomas obsessed in this house too. At church on Sunday, DD walked up to some oy carrying a Thomas and just reached out to take it off him. But he had a rather good grip on his Thomas and she didn't get it. How embarassing. I had to apologise and the mum just said that's okay we act like that too.
