our new house has an 'in-sinkerator' food disposal unit under the sink. i don't know how to use it and don't have a manual!

i'm assuming you need to run the water when you press the mash up button. do you have to empty it regularly? if so, how? anything else obvious that i'm being stupid about?

We have one - we don't empty it, it just flushes away.

You do need to run the water while operating it though!

We've got one in our new house too, and it feels a bit like having a scary pet to look after. Just try to remember to mash it regularly or it starts to reeeeaallly smell. And with ours, you can't run too much water into it (in the manner of an extra sink) or it all spews out into the cupboard below. Bleuughh.

chuck a half lemon or lime in it regularly, at least once a week (squeezed or not) - keeps it smelling loverly.

a peahead top tip for you

or buy a composter

Lakeland do little lemon balls that go in and keep it grease free and smelling lush!
Also, re use - don't put in bones, stones or anything hugely fibrous.......
I love my insinkerator!
