Insurance and baby seats

It's renewal time and we've had our PFB since I last bought car insurance (UK).

I'm wondering if anyone knows if insurance companies automatically replace the baby seat in the event of an accident or does it have to be specifically mentioned in the policy?

If the insurance company does replace the car seat, is there usually an excess?

the excess will be for the claim,so as long as the carseat is mentioned in the policy, you will get it replaced for the claim excess (not an extra excess for the babyseat)
most policies cover possessions within for a set amount, carseats can be taken into that, other companies state carseats will be replaced.
