I'm thinking of buying something like a Tom Tom but am bewildered by the choice. Any advice? Uk use I think, wouldnt rule out camping in Europe next year but not entirely sure!

I have had experience of using at Tom Tom & Navman systems. The Tom Tom is pricier and larger in size but a bit more user friendly. However I have found that it likes to take the longer route on occasions Confused The Navman is more compact and a cheaper option.

Satnavs have moved on quite a bit from the early days. I would personally recommend that you get a satnav system on a smartphone, saves carrying around extra baggage. For instance, you can get the Tom Tom i-phone app for around £50 compared to £100 for the actual device.

Good luck with selecting the right package for you and safe driving :)

That's interesting as I have an iphone. I find that it tends to heat up with extended use, which was why I was considering the Tom Tom. I'm upgrading the phone in the summer, so maybe a new one won't overheat!
