Portable DVD player in car or laptop?

I've been looking at portable DVD players which can be secured in the car, then I wondered whether a well-secured laptop would do the same job?

Have a car DVD myself - and is worth every penny - but someone on here said you can buy head rest attachments on eBay - look at the recent thread about long car journeys. Can't link because on my phone - sorry.
