I am panicking!! Finally made first ebay purchase of new sports equipment from a power selling with great feedback and loads of stock for sale. Sale went through on paypal last Thursday evening. got email from seller this am to say despatched today. There was also an email from ebay a few hours earlier (I have checked with ebay and it is genuine) saying
"Our records show that you were a bidder or buyer of one or more of this seller's items. We recently removed all of this seller's active listings and have suspended the seller's trading privileges. Due to privacy concerns we will not be able to share further details related to this seller. If you have not sent payment to the seller, we urge you to not proceed with the transaction"
What does it mean? Do they think I won't receive the goods and if I do should I keep them or is their something wrong with them??

oh I hated having to use ebay because I don't fully understand it and it just seems so "dodgy" but it was the best place to get it.
Is this common??

You'll have to wait and see if the goods show up and, if so, they are what you ordered/expected. Ã…s you have paid through paypal you should have protection in getting your money back or a percentage depending on how much you spent. I'd email ebay back to tell them that you'd already placed and paid for an order and ask their advice. HTH

Take a deep breath....and wait and see what happens, It could be that the sellers been suspended for a reason that means you will still get your stuff. Maybe you should contact Paypal as I think you are protected when you pay via them, so you might get your money back. I've never had one of these emails, but if you go on to the community chat board on ebay you'll probably find lots of people who can give you first hand advice!

HTH

That is a standard email, which could mean something as simple as the seller hasn't been paying his fees. Don't panick yet, if the seller says he has despatched it already, chances are he has. The real worry is when they stay silent. If not, like others said, you have protection by paypal. I think they will not pay the first £20, but you can reclaim anything over that amount.

daisy1999 · 01/11/2005 19:36

oh thanks everyone - sometimes you just need someone to talk to.

You can check next to the sellers details to see if they are protected by Ebay or Paypal- they will have had to have signed up to the protection - good luck

I hope you get your goods or your money back. I have bought over 150 things from ebay in the last two years (had no idea it was that many until recently) and I have never had any problems. I have never bought anything of high value - usually clothes for DD so always below £10.00.

Please don't be put off by one dodgy seller.

daisy1999 · 04/11/2005 09:52

well item still hadn't turned up yesterday so I emailed the seller and asked for my money back. A short time later he rang and advised that I should have the item Monday or tues at the latest. Fingers crossed.

I bought an item once which never materialised. When I tried to follow it up I saw that the seller had now been listed as 'no longer a registered user'. I sent several e-mails and got no reply and reported it to ebay. A couple of weeks later, with no notification from her the item arrived in the post.
Some sellers are just rubbish. However, if this person was a power seller I imagine it would be in their interest to get back onto ebay as soon as possible and to do that they will definitely have to honour your transaction. I would be surprised if it didn't arrive. Fingers crossed!
