Repairing fabric bits of the phil and ted

I got a second hand phil and ted of ebay. It has been great, but the fabric second seat and the footwell have holes. I have been meaning to take them to a shoe repair place for a while assuming they could patch them. The holes are quite big. I finally got around to it today and was told that there was no way they could do it and they doubted anyone else could. Has anyone else found this? Will I have to fork our for new bits?

Did you get this sorted?

Have you got holes right through the fabric or is it that the stitching has pulled away? Is it a rip or an actual hole IYSWIM? I repaired a couple of split seams on my P&T using an ordinary sewing machine.

I would put a bit of similar fabric behind, glue it on with Seamgrip, and stitch over it a few times with matching thread to reinforce. The main thing is getting the fabric off and whether the particular spot is accessible for the machine.
