She hasn't specified which one but I suspect she will want a screen so shuffle no good. She did admit that if they were too expensive an 'ordinary' mp3 would do. So I am considering either this or this

Any recommendations ?

Thanks

Well, we got a shuffle for our dds last year and tbh they love it and don't mind about not having a screen. And they are a v reasonable price now, compared to the ones with a screen. Otherwise, I know nothing - sorry.

Love the name! Grin

Thanks. I've had many MP3s over the years and I find them really hard to use without a screen - how do you move through the menus?

Thanks re: name. Am Janeite/BelligerentGhoul really but fancied a change.

No idea re: menus etc. I think it just plays songs at random or you skip along until it comes to one you fancy. I have never used an MP3 player because I am a Luddite.

I have a sony one (think it's the model before this one) and I love it. Sound is great, it's easy to use and a great size. I'm not much good with technology but even I can use this one (probably not a problem for your DD). Only downside on mine is that you can't delete directly; you have to do it through the computer. This doesn't bother me but it might be a factor for others.

Ormirian · 03/04/2011 17:52

I have had my membership of the Luddite society cerermonially removed since I fell in love with first MP3 player a few years back.

I like to be able to choose what I am listening to. I think DD would be the same. Actually I think DD really wanted an IPod Touch but she ain't getting one Grin

Thanks tis - I fancied the Sony one I must admit. I can't delete files via my MP3 either and agree it's a pita but not impossible. I think it's across the board with most of them.

I did quite a bit of research (considering I know nowt about owt in this department) and the reviews for the Sony were very good. Some people 'in the know' suggested that the i-pod is great but expensive because of it's image and that the Sony is just as good. I don't know if this is true.

Ormirian · 03/04/2011 17:57

That is what the chap in Currys said too. Image costs!

I've always had Creative mp3 players which have been good, but the last one I bought was probably about 5 years ago, so I'm a little date.

I did get DH a Shuffle for Christmas (our first Ipod type thingy) and he thinks it's great. But then he only uses it for when he's running.

OfflineFor30Seconds · 03/04/2011 17:58

a little out of date. I am not pitted.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 03/04/2011 20:41

:) at pitted.

somersetmum · 03/04/2011 21:47

We bought dd(8) the Sony one for Christmas and she loves it. ds(teenager) has an ipod touch, so we wanted to get her something different. Even ds admits is has a good sound Grin, it is itunes compatible as well. It is very easy to transfer mp3 files to, literally drag and drop, so easy for her to use under my supervision.

Ormirian · 04/04/2011 08:16

Thanks all!

I've ordered the Sony one
