Free books for Kindle that you highly recommend

What have been the best free books you have downloaded?

I liked Blood, Sweat and Tea: Real Life Adventures in an Inner-city Ambulance
which was free back in October last year.

Some books seem to be free for a limited period of time, then back on sale at a higher price. Any tips for finding those books which are discounted down to £0 for limited periods of time?

My theory is that Amazon list them free to bump them up the bestseller list before charging for them. I've got in the habit of checking the free list from my kindle and downloading anything that looks ok.

Wading Home, set in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, was pretty good.

If you subscribe to this www.ereaderiq.co.uk/free/ they'll send you a daily list of free Amazon books as they appear.

Thanks for these suggestions. Have signed up with ereaderiq and have downloaded a sample of Father Brown mysteries to see if I like that before getting the complete collection.

maverick Thanks for that link!!!! I've now added my details onto their mailing list and am looking forward to loads more free books!

I was in the habit of checking Amazon semi-regularly anyway, but this'll save me the hassle!

Sorry if this is obvious (new Kindle owner) but how do you find the free books?

HandMini · 07/04/2011 23:26

You can either browze in the Kindle store using the search term "free" or go to Kindle Store >> Kindle Bestsellers, and you will see in the top right corner Kindle Top 100 Free. Click on that and take your pick.

Thanks handmini, I will look forward to loading my lovely Kindle.
