nope i just used poster paints and then varnished over the top with a matt neutral varnish

i painted flowers and stuff, the sun and fairies (its not very good but dd likes it!)

We have the Svala one which is table and 2 chairs for £19.99. My dd got them for her 3rd birthday and she is now 10!! She used them all the time until she was 6 or 7, then passed on to ds and now used by my minded children everyday to eat snack at and do colouring etc at and they still have plenty of use left in them yet.
Now thats what I call great value for money.

We've got the Gulliver ones from Ikea (see Nailpolish's link) but bought the table and 2 chairs in a set for either £16 or £18 (can't remember which).
Its had 3 years of constant use and is still in excellent condition . It came untreated so you could paint/varnish it. We even sit on the chairs sometimes and holds our weight no probs !

Checked out the LATT table and chairs at IKEA and was too small for DD (she's 5) so we are going to go for the bright blue table and bright green chairs as they are slightly bigger but more pricey - adds up to £30!!!

nailpolish · 28/10/2005 14:13

thats great crazy, i forgot to add my dd1 is only just 3 so i agree the Latt may be too small for a 4/5 yr old

but ikea have loads more stuff thats really nice for kids and still very cheap

that john lewis one is very stylish cod

I have the Svala £19.99 table and chair set. Got it about 4 yrs ago and its still going strong. DD is a tall 6yrs and can sit at it fine, has been all around the house, used for coffee table, lamp table, to reach loft, put christmas tree on. Its really solid and I'm sure we will loads more use out of it yet.
