Wicker/Willow moses basket

Help! Am going mad, I'm trying to find someone who sells cribs/cradles/baskets for babies, which are not the usual moses basket which is quite soft, but a more rigid construction, not unlike a good old fashioned laundry basket - which is becoming a tempting option. Does anyone firstly know what I talking about and secondly know of any stockists? For once Google is being bl**dy useless

emmagee, I had one made by a wicker worker in Derbyshire. I think somewhere near Belper. I took along a mothercare mattress and got him to make it to fit that.

It is like the moses baskets shown the case study on this website (click on case study and scroll down)but it has integral hand-holes i.e. they are gaps in the side.

Is that the sort of thing you are looking for?

BTW, it was rarely used as a moses basket in my case and now is used as either a laundry basket or a soft toy holder. In the past it has been a boat, train, car, etc. for DD. Still looks as good as new, seven years later.

We got DS his moses basket at Daisy & Tom which is the hard wicker type. They have shops at Bluewater, Guildford, London & Chester. It was about £100 complete with all the inner bits.

John Lewis do the wicker ones with a lot of choices in terms of linen - very reasonable if I remember. Leather handles. We also bought the wooden stand to put it on.

I hardly used my moses basket - are you sure you will use one?

Agree with Codswallop - my son HATED his basket (kept hitting his arms & legs on sides), and was in it all of 6 wks. Would have been in cot even earlier if we'd actually bought one in advance

Wish someone had told me they were a waste of money.....but it did look nice

We got 6 months or so use out of ours - only cause dd was so small born and slow to put on weight.
