What is the best luggage form, when you travel on your own with 5 year old (almost) and one year old by plane??? (and buggy)

After 5 years of travelling (often on my own) I still haven't found my Ideal suitcase, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to ehar from tehm!!!

We use rucksacs. Makes it loads easier as they're on you're back, leaving hands free. We also have small trolley style suitcases/rucksac things for hand luggage or small trips. DS (3) wheels his own bag about. DH managed to get his clothes for a week and a ready-bed in a rucksac when we went to spain in september.

I recently travelled by train from Scotland to Devon with my 2,7 and 10 yr old on my own and back, I used my vango globetrotter, which is an 80 litre rucksack which packs like a case, but also has a lower compartment for things like shoes/boots, and a add on 20 litre rucksack that I used for nappies, wipes etc.It also has handles on the top and side, and a detachable shouder strap. My 2 oldest children had small rucksacks with their own things for the journey and I had free hands (apart from a cool bag full of food) to push the buggy.
I'm getting quite good now at not taking the kitchen sink with me as well

I suppose rucksacks are the best option but really can't see me going anywhere with one....I'm sure I'll topple over ( a friend of mine did once on a train!!)

thanks

Have a look on the web for Travel packs, there are even some with wheels.
