What to offer for this car?

I have no experience in these matters.

A seller is advertising a car for sale, privately. He is selling it for £4690. What is a good price to offer for it?

From what I can tell online, that is an acceptable price, it would go higher if sold through a dealership. The price for this model varies on different websites, ranging from £4300 to £4500. Would it be cheeky to go in and offer £4400?

Heeeeeeeelp.....

I suspect 4400 is about the max you should offer!
Get it closely inspected by the AA before you commit to buy; have just had a nightmare of huge extra expenses after buying a 2nd hand car, myself.
