Equivalent to Citroen Xsara Picasso?

I had my heart set on one of these (despite not liking to look ) but noticed the NCAP results were only 4 stars.

The appeal was: 3 fullish size back seats, the walk through thingy, plenty of cars about meaning good 2nd hand cost.

Are there any good alternatives??? I would rather a 5 star car if I am to transport my family around in it . I don't need a massive car or 7 seater, just a wider one. (I have a Ford Focus at the moment, which is great but there isn't enough space in the back)

We are looking too. We are going for a Toyota Verso, but it hasn't been out long so I don't know if there is much on the second hand market.

What's the walk through thingy?

A gap between the front seats and no hump on the floor by the back seats making it easier to manoevre around.

Would a Renault MEGANE scenic be similar?

Oooo so you can get through to the back from the front to do up seatbelts if it's raining. Do other cars have this? (i've a citroen saxo which obviously doesn't 'walk through')
