Which smartphone do you recommend me?

After 11 years i am finally leaving orange.
I want to get a smartphone but i would like to know if anyone can recommend me one and why.

Would second HTC Desire but definitely not on Orange!

if you have old eyes HTC HD7 is excellent - nice big screen. uses windows 7.

I've got a Palm Pixi and love it. All the functionality of a blackberry without the clunky wheels and buttons, part touch screeen too. Free with my O2 contract.
